3D kitchen configurator
A browser-based 3D builder. Modules snap together, the finish switches across 11 colours, and the build goes straight into the Shopify cart.
Role: Designed and built
Year: 2026
Problem
Customers couldn't picture a modular outdoor kitchen in their chosen colour before buying.
What I built
- A browser-based 3D builder where modules snap together connector to connector
- The finish can be switched across 11 colours
- The finished build goes straight into the Shopify cart
- Deep links let marketing send people to a preset kitchen
Stack
React, Vite, React Three Fiber, Zustand, Three.js, Draco, Shopify Storefront API, Liquid
Outcome
- Draco compression cut the 3D assets from 560MB to 22MB
- Every module and finish combination resolves to the right Shopify variant
What I learned
3D on the web is mostly a file-size problem.
